The Community Foundation for Shropshire and Telford (CFST) has been appointed by the Telford and Wrekin Council to manage a new grants scheme for groups working with children and young people in the area. The scheme will provide small grants of £500, and in some cases up to £1.000, for a wide variety of projects. Projects which qualify will be those that help achieve key objectives in improving the lives of local young people. These will address issues such as alcohol abuse, obesity, teenage pregnancy, domestic abuse or further support success in education or employment or reduce rates of youth offending or homelessness.
Funding for the grants is part of the Telford & Wrekin Council drive to address key strategies in its “Every Child Matters” programme.
Lynne Carney, Grants Officer for CFST, says she wants to hear from small Telford based groups working with children or young people who have a good idea for a project but need some funding to make it happen. Community Foundation staff are available to support groups to put together a good project and grant aplication.
